Reconciliation Action Plan and is funded under Priority 1 – Reconciling Communities, Theme 1.1- Building positive relations at the local level.
All events are open to people involved with the community and voluntary sector in County Sligo. We would particularly welcome participants from the border Protestant community, Displaced/Republican community, Traveller community, young people and people from new communities. The events will be of particular interest to people who are working in a paid or voluntary capacity within the community sector.

Working with Diversity in community projects’ case study residentialThis action will be targeted at community organisers and managers who are trying to address the issues of sectarianism and racism in their work. The aim of the project is to bring community organisations to visit a range of projects that are working to address racism/sectarianism. We will be looking at Ireland, Britain and Northern Ireland to find the right location. It is also hoped, as part of the residential that the groups will have a chance to discuss and explore the issues they are learning about and gain insights from key people working in the particular area. We will be targeting groups affected by racism/sectarianism living in the Sligo area as well as the wider community and voluntary sector. We also hope that the residential will forge bonds between different people working in Sligo to address racism and sectarianism.

In addition, it is planned that small group workshops on different themes will be held to help people develop their own responses and challenge their attitudes in relation to the subject.
